I am hoping that there is an inexpenisve way to do it myself. I would prefer to build it myself, I have seen examples online, on David Navone.com N-22V, and also PRC1 RCA line level converter. They're not really expensive, I'd just prefer to learn how to do it. I want to control the volume of my car amplifier independent of the head unit output. Is there a way to independently control the volume on a car amp?
some amps do. for example i'm pretty sure mostBoston Acoustic amps are compatable with a remote gain controller. which is a volume control knob thats up by you, instead of in the trunk. the link i'm going to give you is for the remote for a Boston amp. it will not work if you dont have a boston amp.

good luckIs there a way to independently control the volume on a car amp?
some amps have a control on the side where the wires lead out to the head unit. The one I have has independant controls of how much bass is amplified. Just look at the side of your amp.
