How do I fit an old Clarion car stereo?

I have an 07 reg Seat Altea. The factory fitted CD player is faulty and I want to replace it. I have a Clarion db328r head unit - about 9 years old - which I want to install. What - if any - wiring converters/connectors will I need to purchase, or will it just plug and play?

Also, is there any way that I will still be able to use the 3.5mm jack input which is built into the car? Can this somehow be connected to this head unit? How do I fit an old Clarion car stereo?
IT may be worth while popping down to Hellfrauds to find out if there is a compatible wiring harness adaptor. This will basically plug into the factory fitted wiring socket and provide a new socket to plug into the back of your replacement stereo. This may also enable you to use the 3.5mm jack and your troubles could be over... but if it means you cannot use the jack..

Having failed that and no harness be available then you can always hard wire the stereo using bullet connectors and insulation tape. The wiring is dead easy. Its just about figuring out the speaker wires, radio wire, power wire, memory wire and dimming wire - so there is not always a handful. Depending on the wiring that is already in there, there may be more e.g. for the 3.5mm jack.

If you find yourself unable to connect to the 3.5mm jack then.. you have a few options... for example:

1. If you are trying to connect an iPod then you may consider: http://www.caraudiocentre.co.uk/category鈥?/a>

2. Manually add another AUX input to your Clarion: http://lifehacker.com/293261/add-an-auxi鈥?/a>

Tools required for this: pair of old headphones (3.5mm), soldering iron, and insulation tape.

Hope that helps.
