A unit converter is already included as a 'Widget' in the 'Dashboard'. It can convert currencies, weights, speed, temperature, area, etc. – press F12 to switch to the Dashboard view, then click on the Plus button at the bottom of the screen to launch the Unit Converter widget. You can open multiple instances of it, e.g. one for currencies, another one weights...
The same conversion features are also integrated in the Calculator application (see Applications folder.)
