Will after market headers without catalytic converter work on my 04 Nissan Titan?

My stock exhaust manifold has catalytic converter built in to the end of them, with 02 sensor. I really need to replace my stock manifold and catalytic converters (single unit), but I don't want to pay 1000 bucks! So could I put one of these aftermarket headers that states that they are legal in my state with out any issues, both mechanically and legally? any help thanks a millionWill after market headers without catalytic converter work on my 04 Nissan Titan?
Legal in your state sometimes doesn't mean street legal, it means off road. to be legal on the street they must be able to pass federal smog standards. You could try after market catalytic converters,

get them off a wreck, good luck.
Unless you have a lot of miles then the cat is likely still under warranty. They are governed by Federal law. A shop that removes smog control items from a street legal vehicle and gets caught would be subject to prosecution and fines. Obviously you could try it yourself but if you get caught, there are some serious penalties.

Without the cat burning exhaust you could see some changes in the engine as the 02 sensor would not get the same readings as being after a cat. Some computers handle it better than others. I am not personally familiar with the Titan as we have not had a customer who had one tuned without a cat.Will after market headers without catalytic converter work on my 04 Nissan Titan?
Catalytic converters are only warrantied to 80,000 miles.

I assume your manifolds are cracked? The Titan's are notorious for this.

I also hate to tell you that you're not going to be able to replace them for under $1000.

I assume you want Long Tube headers? If so, then you can get OBX long tubes on ebay for around $390. BUT keep in mind, without a proper tune, you MAY run lean which in turn will eventually melt holes through the top of your pistons.

Long tubes are only off road legal, but if you live in a state that doesn't do smog tests, you'll be fine driving it on the street.

You DO NOT want to get shorty headers. You have to have catalytic converters welded on to them and will end up costing you a good bit more than long tubes.

If you need any more info feel free to email me and I'll help you out all I can.Will after market headers without catalytic converter work on my 04 Nissan Titan?
Your second O2 sensors with headers will not see the correct oxygen mixture SES light will turn on. Those second converters you talk about do not actually exist those are front tubes. The only cats are located between the AF sensor and O2 sensor. I have installed superchargers and headers on titans your in for quite a surprise because the nuts and studs are even more difficult to tighten with the header tubes in the way. Do not drive a truck under high load with weak crumbling cat converters. Chunks of the cats blow back into the motor and soon you will need a motor and cat pieces will clogg the exhaust. Make sure you also have the IPDM relay replaced (recall) Good Luck

Installing an aftermarket head unit?

I installed a high low converter so I could have an RCA hook up on my factory stereo. When I install my new head unit do I need to remove the H/L converter or can I just leave it hooked up but not use it. Will it affect anything even If I do not use it cause I will use the Preamp output on my new unit.Installing an aftermarket head unit?
there is nothing that can happed if you just leave it there but is not in useInstalling an aftermarket head unit?
Remove the converter and use the aftermarket stereo rca output. Reconnect the speakers normally or to a 4 channel amp.

Just wanted to know which wires are the remote turn on and also the rear speakers so i can hook up a line out converter and also hook the remote turn on to the amp. If anyone has any answers please let me know. Thank you.2001 Mazda Millenia: Im installing an aftermarker amp with the factory bose head unit. Remote Wire?
this is for an 02' http://www.the12volt.com/installbay/foru鈥?/a> but in any case...

as far as your remote wire is concerned just use the "switched" power wire at the back of the radio or a wire that is only hot when the key is on

as far as the speaker wire just pop the trunk and look back there for the colors at the speaker because they dont change between the radio and speaker/amp

Yep, LLC's are universal. They make two channel and four channel units. If you want to amp the front and rear, you'd need a 4 channel. They're pretty cheap, $14 online:

    Normally its in with your service manual, if not, press and holding 1 and 6 while turning on the power will give you an 8 digit code you will need for the dealer to look it up.Chances are you will have to go to the dealer, the one i worked at never gave the code over the phone.

    Yes, it's bad. Why are you using goto's? There is hardly ever a good reason to use them. What are you using them for? Can you not do the same thing with if statements and loops? Usually you can.

    It's not that you should never use goto. I probably use 1 or 2 of them a year. 37 in 1 small app, yes, that's bad.
    using goto statements is bad design. You should have 0 of them.

    How to tune an amp with output converter?

    hwy whats up guys i need help cause i have kickers l5s and i cant figure out how to tune it with the output converter cause i have no head unit and every time i turn the gain up on the amp the amp turns off and when i turn the gain up on the converter it also turns off. but it only turns off when im like 3/5s the volume how can i tune it to the the point where its louder and so i can turn it at full volume. need helpHow to tune an amp with output converter?
    invest in a head unit. it has a dedicated rca outputs for a sub. install the head unit buy 16ft of rca and run it to the amp. Sorry. but for good bass you need a good head unit. Check out crutchfields website and get your part numbers and buy from millionbuy.com. Thats what i do.How to tune an amp with output converter?
    Set the output converter to the least sensitive level, then set the gain on the amp.

    The purpose of the gain is to match the signal volts RMS coming from the source (CD player, etc.) to the input of the amp for correct power matching and to prevent clipping (damage by over powering).

    Here is a guide that will help you set the gain correctly http://www.box.net/shared/uchv4dbk88

    You'll need a multi-meter (AC voltmeter, $15 from Radio$hack), Microsoft Excel and a way to burn an audio CD from an MP3.

    How to install a line out converter?

    I am trying to help my friend install a system in his vw touareg with a factory head unit. Now I know that I am going to need a LOC but the problem is the rear speakers are located in the doors so they are on opposite sides of the car. How am I supposed to connect the LOC when the speakers are so far away from each other.How to install a line out converter?
    you'll need to extend the input wires on the loc so they will reach the speakers.

    Alternatively, you can pull the HU from the dash, determine which wires are the speaker wires you want to use for signal and make your connections there. That just means longer RCA wires to get to wherever you're mounting the amp(s).

    I had a stock radio so i used an in line converter. I now have an aftermarket radio should i just use rca?

    when my subs and amps were originally installed i had a stock radio so they used an inline converter to rear door speaker. now that i have a after market radio should i keep the inline converter or should i run RCAs straight to head unit? please helpI had a stock radio so i used an in line converter. I now have an aftermarket radio should i just use rca?
    definitely use the rca's. they are way higher quality because they dont have to reduce/change the signal. so yeah, take out the inline converter. also, that will give the car speakers their full power since its not being taken from them to run to the amp.

  • Does someone know how to program a calculator?

    I am a coffee buyer and I need a custom unit converter. I use excel, but it does not give me everything I want. I need someone to create a unit/price calculator using some other method, lets say a flash program. (e.g., I have 2 cells. Kg %26amp; pound. If I enter kg, it should convert it in pound in the other cell and vise versa). Just like the one we use in Nokia.

    It should also give me the unit price %26amp; value as per the quantity for both, kg %26amp; pound.

    If there is anyone who knows what I am talking about and know how to solve this, please contact me and I will send you the units and prices I need to convert.

    Excel can do this and more, personally for this situation I would use a PocketPC with excel rather than a calculator, since you can edit excel's methods at any time to add new variables.

    Why is flyback converter(DC to DC converter) called so and what are its main advantages over other techniques?

    I did a project of a power supply unit which employs flyback conversion techniques in which the external asked me this question.Why is flyback converter(DC to DC converter) called so and what are its main advantages over other techniques?
    The best explanation I've ever heard is that it was

    named from the similar circuit the "flyback

    transformer". This is what is used to provide the

    low-power high-voltage needed to drive a CRT. The

    name comes from this use where a sawtooth wave drives

    the transformer to build up a voltage to draw an

    electron beam across the display. Each time it switches

    off, it causes the e-beam to "fly back" from the right

    to the left of the screen.

    Time unit conventions?

    Hello, i was wondering if you could give me all the unit converters for seconds, minutes, hours

    For example

    What do you multiple/divide to get hours to minutesTime unit conventions?
    60 seconds = 1 minute (multiply minutes by 60 to get seconds) (divide seconds by 60 to get minutes)

    60 minutes = 1 hour (multiply hours by 60 to get minutes)( divide minutes by 60 to get hours)

    24 hours = 1 day (multiply days by 24 to get hours)(divide hours by 24 to get days)

    7 days = 1 week (multiply weeks by 7 to get day)

    s2 weeks = 1 fortnight (multiply fortnights by 2 to get weeks)

    365 days = 1 year (366 days in a leap year)

    52 weeks = 1 year

    26 fortnights = 1 year

    12 months = 1 year

    10 years = 1 decade

    100 years = 1 century

    1000 years = 1 milleniumTime unit conventions?
    60 sec= 1 min

    60 min= 1 hr

    3600 sec= 1 hr

    If you want to get hours to minutes, you would want to multiply by 60 min.

    x hours= (60 min/1 hr)

    this way you can cancel units (the hr, because hr is on the left side of = and on bottom on the other side of = so they can cancel) which is very helpful.

    Hope this helped!

    If I have two amps, do I need two preamp outputs on the head unit? Also what is a subwoofer output?

    I don't want to use a high to low converter or low to high converter or whatever they are called. (the thing that makes your factory stereo be able to play subs, from what I hear)If I have two amps, do I need two preamp outputs on the head unit? Also what is a subwoofer output?
    You can use splitters to convert a single pre-out set for use with two amps. Both amplifiers will get exactly the same signal, so if you're using this for a front-speaker amp and a subwoofer amp, you won't be able to use the deck's fader control or level controls to adjust one independently of the other.

    Many amplifiers have input and output RCA jacks. In this case you can run cables from the deck to the first amp's input, then another set of cables from the first amp to the second amp.

    A subwoofer output on a head unit provides a signal that isn't affected by the fader control. If you fade the sound all the way to the front or the back, the sub output will always stay at the same level. Depending on the head unit, you may also be able to set a low-pass crossover setting for the sub output, change the signal polarity, or adjust the subwoofer volume. Some subwoofer outputs are mono, not stereo.If I have two amps, do I need two preamp outputs on the head unit? Also what is a subwoofer output?
    well, it depends on how you want to wire it...

    you can take 1 set of pre-outs to one amp, then run the pre-outs from the one amp to the other, or use a signal splitter...

    lots of options here

    Sony Xplod .to a Line Output Converter to a factory stereo head unitDoes it matter which Line Output Converter to put on my 97 crv if i am going to hook up a 1000 watt amp to it?
    Line output converters are like most other car audio products. You can buy cheap which will work and you can get higher end stuff that will work very well. And since the cost is such a small percentage of the overall cost, and getting a good input to the amp is so important, it just doesn't make much sense to try to save money there.

    For your CRV, I'd recommend a good LOC, and the best I've found are these by David Navone Engineering. This one includes a remote turn-on lead and the price is very competitive:

    Whats the best way to run multiple analog circuits on one AC-DC converter?

    I want to power a number of individual op amp circuits on a single AC-DC supply. I'm just wondering if its ok to just tie them directly together on the same branch or should I add something to regulate it. the supply can put out 500mA and each circuit is 12mA so I figure it shouldn't be a problem right? or should I put some series resistors on each unit to regulate the current?Whats the best way to run multiple analog circuits on one AC-DC converter?
    No, you do NOT want to regulate the current. Why would you do that?

    As long as the circuits can share a common ground as well as a common supply, you should be fine. Be sure to put a good sized bypass cap on each circuit, say at least 50碌F at 25 volts. As well as 0.1碌F bypass caps on each component. Use heavy gage wire, say #20, to connect the grounds.

    If you have interactions problems, add a small resistor in series between each circuit and the supply +, say 22 ohms.

    A car battery would certainly work - but it's a little inconvenient and certainly not very portable - and not the sort of thing you really want in the house.

    A battery charger might also work, but it's not a regulated supply and some won't work without a load - i.e. a battery.

    It's best if you just get on down to your local Radio Shack and pick up a 12 volt converter - it's convenient and a handy device to have if you ever want to test any other components.

You will need to know the colors for the positive and negative terminals for your right rear speaker and your left rear speaker. You can go directly behind your radio or if its a car you can get the those wires from inside you trunk looking up toward the speakers. On the LOC your going to have 6 wires a gray, gray/black, white, white/ black or something to show a left and right wires and the 2 ground wires maybe black or brown. your gray wires go to your right rear speaker and white to your left rear speaker.

    Good Luck!How do I hook up an RCA Converter on a 2001 Jeep Grand Cherokee?
    If your Grand Cherokee is equipped with an Infinity sound system, you can find all the wires at the factory amplifier, underneath the rear seat. With this type of system, you can tap your line-out converter into the input wires that come from the head unit, or the output wires that run to the speakers. Usually the input wires are the best ones to use, because the amplifier has built-in crossovers that will cut some of the frequency range from the speaker outputs.

    The instructions with most line-out converters will tell you NOT to connect the ground wire in most cases.

  • What size power supply (AC to DC converter) do I need for a car stereo?

    I am going to hook up a car stereo inside a weatherproof box on my deck and I need to find a power supply to run it. I want to find something that I can plug into the wall that will supply enough 12volt power to run the stereo.

    How many amps does it need to produce to avoid tripping the unit? Most of the ones I've seen at Radio Shack, etc., only produce about 10 amps. Is this enough? I am going to hook up 2 of the Bose indoor/outdoor speakers to it, and that's all.

    Any suggestions for a small, reasonable, power supply that will do the trick?What size power supply (AC to DC converter) do I need for a car stereo?
    It's easy, just buy a AC/DC power supply 12 -14v and 5-10 A. that should work fine. Also you can get a computer case power supply which work just fine, just find something to isolate the power supply.What size power supply (AC to DC converter) do I need for a car stereo?
    Ideally get the rating off the nameplate.

    Unfortunately 12v automotive equipment often doesn't give input power or current so the next best is to measure it connected to a battery. A cheap multimeter will measure dc amps.

    Choose a power supply a little bit bigger than what you measure. Make sure its well regulated otherwise you will get ac hum and may even damage something.

    10 amps would actually seem more than enough. I used to run automotive CB equipment from a 13.8v, 5A regulated supply, these are sold in the same place as CB radios and would probably do your job.What size power supply (AC to DC converter) do I need for a car stereo?
    For a standard in-dash car CD player, a 10-amp power supply will be more than enough. Since you're only hooking up two speakers, even a 5-amp power supply would probably work.

    Here's a 6-amp and a 10-amp unit for a decent price:

    a new cat or one from the scrap yard.

    a universal one might not fit directly. check prices and measure the distance between the flanges for fit.

    Is there a converter or adapter for a NEMA 10-30 plug and NEMA 6-15 or 6-30 receptacle?

    I have a whirlpool 220v a/c. It recently stopped working. My grandfather had a spare 220v a/c but it is pretty old. It's a 27000 BTU Coronado Aristocrat 270 Model ACE937A. We put the unit in the window, but when we went to plug it in, the receptacle is completely different than the plug.

    The plug is a NEMA 10-30. The receptacle is either a NEMA 6-15 or 6-30 (I don't know how to tell the difference).

    I don't have the cash to get the whirlpool fixed or to buy a new unit right now and it's hot as hell here.

    Is there an adapter that will resolve my problem and if so, where can I get one?Is there a converter or adapter for a NEMA 10-30 plug and NEMA 6-15 or 6-30 receptacle?
    No, there is no adapter. A Nema 10-30 is a 125/250 volt plug rated at 30 amps. If the receptacle is a 6-30 it is also rated at 30 amps and should be wired for 250 volts. You could replace the plug on the air conditioner as Mark mentioned. Or change the receptacle to match the AC plug. But if the receptacle is a 6-15, it is only rated at 15 amps and will not handle a 30 amp load. Quick check - go look for the AC circuit breaker. If it is a 30 amp you should be ok. If it is 15 or 20 it most likely will trip with the larger AC unit no matter what plug you put on. At least I would hope so. The alternative is an overheated receptacle and fire. Plugs and receptacles are configured so you cannot plug in the wrong thing and cause a fire. That is why no adapters are made. I hope this helps. Call an electrician if you have any doubts. Don't cause a fire or get hurt.

    Here are your plugs and receptacles:

    I am trying to fix some cassettes that were recorded from live music?

    These cassettes were recorded with very old equipment and when I listen through earphones it sounds great but I need it to sound the same on speaker, what is the best software to do this? Is there a better converter?I am trying to fix some cassettes that were recorded from live music?
    If there are settings in the program, make sure that you are converting at a rate of at least 192kB/s, and 44.1kHz sampling rate.

    If the program won't do this, look around for another. Audacity with the Lame MP3 encoder added should be able to do this.

    I have a 2004 pontiac grand prix with a stock head unit and want to hook up a kicker sub and amplifier?

    It is a single 10" kicker cvr sub and zx300.1 mono channel amplifier. I want to know if I need a 2 channel line out put converter or 4 channel or if it even matters...also what brand do you recommend. I do NOT have the monsoon sound system if that matters either.I have a 2004 pontiac grand prix with a stock head unit and want to hook up a kicker sub and amplifier?
    It really depends on your budget. Also, it really doesn't matter if you get a 2, 4, or 6 channel LOC. If all you want is subs, a 2 channel will work. But, if the one you get has more, you can just not use the other channels.

    If all you want is a sub out, just get one like this one. http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_5285鈥?/a> The thing that sets this one apart from the rest is a remote output wire to turn on the amp. It saves you from having to have to find a switched wire to use for the remote.

    If you're planning on adding more to the system later, I would recommend this model. http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_8168鈥?/a> Pretty much the same idea as the other model. But, it's has 6 output channels with internal summing, level control and noise isolation.I have a 2004 pontiac grand prix with a stock head unit and want to hook up a kicker sub and amplifier?
    Ur gonna need a new head unit cuz you need rca jacks in the back. And as for the amp, you only need one channel because you only have one sub. Even if you had 2 subs you would still only need one channel...I have a 2004 pontiac grand prix with a stock head unit and want to hook up a kicker sub and amplifier?

    I don't think you are wrong. I think this is a good example of why you can't trust on-line calculators.

    Before it was phased out in 1965, the rod in England was 16.5 ft.

    Let's imagine we can agree on:

    1 marla = 1 rod虏

    1 rod = 16.5 ft.

    1 ft = 12 in.

    1 in = 2.54 cm

    1 m = 100 cm

    so

    1 marla = 1 rod虏 路 272.25 ft虏/rod虏 路 144 in虏/ft虏 路 6.4516 cm虏/in虏 路 m虏/10000 cm虏 鈮?25.29285264 m虏.

    Which is the standardized unit adopted in Pakistan.

    It is not an international standard, however, and measurements in India can vary greatly by region.

    So unless you know what formula is employed by an on-line calculator, it can be unwise to rely on them.

    My Sony 13" TV has an antenna ATTACHED on the top. Will the converter box work with this?

    The antenna is not a separate unit, it is a part of the TV. I do not have cable or any other source except antenna.My Sony 13" TV has an antenna ATTACHED on the top. Will the converter box work with this?
    Your converter will need a video transmitter to work with this old-style TV. A short antenna connected to the converter's video output jack should work for you.My Sony 13" TV has an antenna ATTACHED on the top. Will the converter box work with this?
    short answer is no.

    those portable tvs will not work after the digital transition, unless that tv has an input for an external antenna (it will either look like two screws or a single, threaded metal jack). concievably, you should be able to open the tv and find where the antenna connects to the tv. however, to wire up a converter would probably require some soldering and minor electrical surgery. if this was meant to be a portable tv, this conversion will make it a pain to move around.

    your other option is, if you have audio/video inputs (red/yellow/white plugs) to connect a vcr and then connect the digital converter box through that, which will work, since you will be using the vcr's tuner to get the signal, which will be transferred as seperate audio/video signals to the tv. having these plugs on a small tv is very hit-or-miss, but sonys are usually feature-rich.

    another poster mentioned a video-signal transmitter. that may work, but the picture quality is dubious, at best.

    Catalytic Converter needs work, how should I go about this?

    For most of 2008, my service engine light has been on in my 1996 Ford Taurus G 3.0L 4 door sedan. I had the light checked and it was coming back with a catalytic converter issue. I researched the converters on various auto parts websites, and the price range varies heavily. You can get the converter piece by itself for as low as $70, or you can get the entire unit(converter connected to all the Y-Pipes and can easily be bolted on) for $300-400. However, how would I know what way to go? Is there a way a body shop could pull the converter and check to see how bad it is, or if it is clogged? I don't want to spend $400 unless it's absolutely mandatory.Catalytic Converter needs work, how should I go about this?
    A check engine light that gives a converter code could be an O2 sensor (after the converter). The old school way to check a converter is to beat on it (gently) with a hammer. If it rings, it's generally good. If it sounds like it's full of sand, it's bad and the only way to fix it is to replace it. Your skill level in auto repair should dictate which way you go to fix it. Can you weld and cut the pipes?if so, go for just a replacement converter. If not, get the bolt on pipes and all. Option #2 is, take it to a muffler shop. Check your muffler too, sometimes they clog just like a converter. Good news is...used converters are recyclable, sometimes getting good money.
    Let's do something else - let's spend $0 and get the word "issue" upgraded to "needs replacement" and let's add a reason why in there too. You might be able to do that at Autozone, but only if the code tells them exactly what's going on.

    "catalytic converter issue" is not specific enough to spend money yet.Catalytic Converter needs work, how should I go about this?
    Is it a "catalytic converter efficiency below threshold" code description or something like that? If this is the case, it could quite possibly just be the oxygen sensor after the cat.Catalytic Converter needs work, how should I go about this?
    Go to an independent muffler/exhaust shop. They usually can replace the converter only in less than an hour for about a hundred bucks.
    Call around to the junk yards in your area and even a little out if you have to. If a wrecked car still has one in it they can sell it a lot cheaper than otherwise. That's about all I can tell you. Call the garage and see if it costs more to take it 0off...labor is expensive. Getting the whole one off a wrecked one and just replacing the whole thing is best in my opinion.

    Unless you live in a state that has mandatory testing you really don't need it. I just cuts down on emissions, it is still as good as any other car. The engine light on my 2006 Dodge Caravan is always on because it's sensor is not working. It's not worth fixing it to me. I keep my oil changed and everything maintained. If it has a problem I have to take it in anyhow. Right?

    Good Luck Miss Mary

    Which is the best way to connect an amplifier to a stock head unit?

    I have a 2011 Accord and i am going to put a bass system in it. Would it be better if i connected the amp by using the speaker level imputs or installing an inline converter?Which is the best way to connect an amplifier to a stock head unit?
    Line output convertor would be your cheapest way.
    Most professional installers would recommend using a LOC.

    But if your rear speakers are located fairly close to where you plan to put the amp, and you use twisted pair wire (or even shielded twisted pair), you can usually get decent results using speaker level inputs.

    Most problems with using speaker level inputs result from long unshielded speaker wires picking up EMI and RFI "noises" and sending them along with the audio signal to be amplified. The result can be annoying humming, buzzing, whining, and otherwise hard to diagnose and cure noise problems.

    With a stock receiver, in either case, the resulting input to the amp has already been "processed". With the LOC, it's processed and then reprocessed again. Aftermarket RCA outputs deliver a "clean" preamplified audio signal that is free from any distortion introduced by the equipment.Which is the best way to connect an amplifier to a stock head unit?
    Probably an output converter. Or check your wiring diagram to see if it can take RCA converters. I have dealt with the speaker level inputs in my 1996 Accord, and it wasn't so fun. But if you end up going with that, definitely check out your speaker diagram. Oh and make sure you connect the speaker level inputs with the correct positive and negative speaker wires.Which is the best way to connect an amplifier to a stock head unit?

    Your best bet is to connect it to the wires that went to the factory subwoofer. That way you can be certain that the wires are carrying the right frequency range for your new sub.

    Connect the LOC's left positive input to the blue/white wire, and the left negative to green/black. Connect the right positive input to the green wire, and the right negative to blue/black.

    Anyhow, in the example you have given, 1.7 is a double (or float), so I can't see why you can't use a double (or float) to make the initial add of 0.5 and then convert it back to an int.

    The reason I say this is there is no other way to add 0.5 or to get 1.7

    Example

    double input = 1.7; // You get this number from user input or something.

    input = input + 0.5;

    int rounded = (int) input;

    or

    int original = 17;

    double temp = 17 / 10;

    temp = temp + 0.5;

    int rounded = (int) temp;

    The variable rounded will have a value of 2.

    If you are not allowed to use doubles at all, you could possibly do something like this.

    int original = 17;

    int divisor = 10; // Change this to whatever you are dividing the original by.

    original = original * 10; // This is making the int times 10 for the next line.

    original = original + 5; // This is adding 0.5 * 10.

    int divided = orginal / divisor;

    int rounded = divided / 10; // To negate the original times by 10 to add 5 to the number.

    Hope that helpsHow do i round up in integer division in Java?
    adapt this

    int x = 3;

    int y = 2;

    if (x%y != 0)

    {

    int z = x/y;

    z++;

    }

    else

    int z = x/y;

    you can have the user input the numbers using a Scanner

    Scanner key = new Scanner(System.in);

    in the first if statement:

    1. it checks to see if x is divisible by y

    2. if it isnt then it will do integer division

    3. and because it isnt divisible, it will round down, so i added 1 to it

    if you are allowed to use casts:

    int x = 3;

    int y = 2;

    System.printf("%.0f",(double)x/y);

    it is actually an int, just casted to a double. use this if and only if you can use casts... much more accurate.

    good luck

    How to connect an aftermarket amp to a stock head unit?

    I have a 2003 toyota camry, that I installed a jl audio 500.1 amp and a jl audio w6. I bought the system from a friend and i know all the equipment works. I used a line converter, and everything works. The problem is the system sounds like crap! It doesn't get loud or produce deep bass, it sounds muddy and full of distortion, and only plays bass on certain notes. How can I fix this problem?How to connect an aftermarket amp to a stock head unit?
    Just for testing, unplug one of the RCA plugs from the LOC. How does it affect the sound? If the sub sounds louder and cleaner with only one RCA connected, you might not have wired the LOC correctly. Try switching the (+) and (-) connections on ONE of the RCA input pairs (left or right).

    What do I need to do to power a Head Unit for home use?

    I've been reading these converters, inverters, ect. and I don't understand it. I have an old XR-CA360X Sony XPLOD car head unit that I want to use as the main controller for the rest of the audio I'm plugging into it. What exactly do I need to just use the power wire to go into a 12V home socket?What do I need to do to power a Head Unit for home use?
    Take the power supply out of an old computer. You will use the yellow wire and the black one right next to it as these are 12 volts, the red and black are 5 volts. I've even ran small amps off of one of these. Good short protection also. It works I promise.

    How to install sub amp in factory deck with Line out converter?

    im installing a monoblock amp on a factory head unit for a 95 grand cherokee laredo.

    where should I splice the LOC? tap into rear speakers (don't know how) or splice from the head unit?

    where should I connect the remote wire? no electric antenna.How to install sub amp in factory deck with Line out converter?
    You will want to put your LOC up front because in the rear your speaker wires aren't close enough to get them to the LOC without running excess wire.

    In order to splice into this line, you will want to cut one wire at a time from your speaker output (you can find a wiring diagram online or at the library in a Chilton's manual), strip the insulation off both new ends, put some heat shrink wrapping on one side, twist the three wires (both positives ((or negatives)) from the speaker line and the positive ((or negative)) from the corresponding ((left or right)) input on your LOC) then you will apply heat by soldering iron or industrial hair drier to srink the heat shrink over your solder.

    As far as your remote wire, you will have to find a wire that connects to your ignition with a relay. If you have a cigarette light that doesn't work when your ignition is off, you can use the 12v line in that. If you don't have one of those it's back to the wiring diagrams and find the wire that connects to your ignition.

    Best wishes.

    What is the best unit to buy to convert VHS tapes to DVD?

    Should you buy a converter and if so, which one? Or should you just buy the software and use your computer to do it?What is the best unit to buy to convert VHS tapes to DVD?
    I just started putting a bit of information about transferring VHS tapes to DVD on a web page (below), but I have a lot more information to add to the page. Commercial VHS tapes cannot be copied to a DVD on a VHS / DVD combo unit due to copyright protection built into the tape and combo unit. If you own the commercial VHS tapes you can legally transfer the movies to DVD - but I haven't gotten that far yet with the web page. The next bit of information to go up will be how to deep clean the tape deck so no 'snow' is picked up and sent to the DVD. Check it out now if you're inclined, then check the web site for more information in a few days. Hope this helps.
    You have a few choices.

    1.Capture the VHS video to a computer video editing program using an analog-to-DV converter (which includes many DV/Digital8 camcorders as well as standalone analog-to-DV converters), encode it to MPEG-2 and author a DVD, This is the most time-consuming method.

    2.Capture the video to the computer as MPEG-2 using hardware capture devices that convert the VHS to MPEG-2 as they capture and then author and burn a DVD.

    3.Connect your VHS VCR or camcorder to a standalone DVD recorder that works much like a VCR.What is the best unit to buy to convert VHS tapes to DVD?
    You'll end up having to use the computer in order to convert the analog VHS over to a digital file. There are many products on the market that either externally connect (USB based) or are internal (PCI express cards) that have Coax inputs and/or RCA jacks. For the software side of things, most of the hardware comes bundled with software that allows you edit and recordWhat is the best unit to buy to convert VHS tapes to DVD?

    Can a digital converter box pull in digital cable chanels?

    I have (very) basic cable so no boxes on the TVs (all analog units). I do know that there are additional over the air digital channels in my area. 6-2, 10-1, 10-2, 10-3 etc. If my cable company is broadcasting them, will a converter box pick them up and display them on my set?Can a digital converter box pull in digital cable chanels?
    (This answer assumes you are located in the US)

    %26gt;will a converter box pick them up and display them on my set?

    No. Coupon type converters are designed to receive over the air broadcasts only. They were specifically designed so that they would not receive the type of digital signals used by major cable companies.

    Over the air broadcasts use ATSC for digital. Major

    cable companies use QAM for digital channels. New TVs are required to have ATSC tuners. Most also have QAM tuners but are not required to have them.

    Some people have found that their basic cable includes digital broadcasts of their local stations. But you need a "QAM" digital tuner to receive these cable channels. Some DVD recorders include a QAM tuner.

    There are non-coupon "converters/tuners" that have both ATSC and QAM tuners, but you to hunt them down on the Internet.
    Definitely not. The converter boxes sold in the U.S. in connection with the over-the-air digital transition have no application whatsoever except that: over-the-air reception with an antenna.

    As it happens, your cable company may have some of those new channels on its basic cable (mine does), but you'd need a QAM tuner in your TV to receive them. Many modern digital TVs include a QAM tuner, but you generally won't find them on the lower priced sets or the economy brands sold in discount stores.Can a digital converter box pull in digital cable chanels?
    Probably not. The converter boxes receive ATSC (digital) signals and convert them for display on analog NTSC TVs. I don't think any cable comapies put ATSC signals on their wires. But they may carry them in cable's version of digital called QAM. If they do, and they are unencrypted (clear QAM), you would need a TV with a QAM tuner, which is in most new digital TVs.Can a digital converter box pull in digital cable chanels?
    no cable as a digital signal all its own

    Why does my Belkin Ipod converter come in with just plain static?

    It comes in with static unless i hold the unit and Im not holding the unit the entire time i drive. Help.Why does my Belkin Ipod converter come in with just plain static?
    I'm assuming it's an FM transmitter that connects to your Ipod and sends a signal to your radio. If the Belkin has a frequency adjust on it, use it. If not, then it's a POS like most of the FM transmitter devices. You'll be best served spending the extra money on getting a wired connection of some kind.

  • How many inches in a foot?

    I was messing with my phone and opened the unit converter. It said that there are 11.9996 inches in a foot.

    Are the manufacturers idiots or is there something that i dont know?How many inches in a foot?
    calculators use various "rounding" methods for expressions. They dont give exact numbers; because in reality, most numbers dont terminate so rounding is necessary. How accurate your calculator estimates depends on its programing and its capacity for programing.
    Inches and feet are from a very weird measurement system. I don't really know much beyond the fact that our system is based of measurements of the human body.

    For example, the Fahrenheit system is a temperature system based from 0 to 100. 0 is the temperature of salt mixed with ice and ammonium chloride, and 100 was supposed to be body temperature, but Fahrenheit was sick with a 100 degree fever the day he made that scale! I don't know how much evidence there is to support that, but that's what I remember reading somewhere. I think it was my chemistry book from last year.

    Our resistance to the Celsius system is probably due to the larger size of each degree in the other scales. As a mechanical engineer, it's annoying to switch to a LESS accurate system where integral Fahrenheit degrees are adequate for a lot of technical work. Otherwise, well have to use fractions or divide by 1.8...

    Since the US has a lot of termodynamical work, we tend to shy away from systems like that.

    However, it's not to say that the Celsius scale is useless. It's just used for different things. It's like painting a photo with less than half the colors you normally have.

    The inch is based off the human thumb. From the bend point to the tip, a hand is well... a hand, a cubit is from your elbow to the tip of your fingers, and I mile was established before the human body system that was used by the greeks. I'm sure it's much more organized than I'm making it sound, but I'm sure google has a lot of sources like this one. One thing that's untrue however is that a "foot" is based on feet. The word inch comes from the Latin word uncia which means "one twelfth". So long story short, your phone IS without a doubt wrong. I believe that your phone is based off the metric system and is basing it's calculation off the number 2.54 which is the number you use to convert to inches.

    Here's a good page that tells you exacly what's a perfect number conversion and what's not.

    That's correct; you can connect the high-level inputs to your factory speaker wiring instead of using a line-out converter.

    Can a muffler pipe on my 300M be patched or repaired?

    The exhaust pipe that comes out of the left catalytic converter has a hole in it that is half way down the pipe in an area that is mesh like. Dealer said the $800 fix is because it is a one piece unit (converter and pipe) and that part of the exhaust has to be replaced. Note, that the 3 mufflers aren't even included in this repair bill, just this section of pipe that has a hole. common amounts of current for a deck in an auto is 3-5 amps, however it generally will not use this much, the decks are also usually fused at 10amps. This is based off a 12 volt American car system. I would check with the manufacturer of the unit you want to install to just make sure.

    "Y" is not a british english unit of weight. It is an abbreviation for "yards" but that doesn't make any sense here.

    I think the other answer is right, it was "why" as in "why are you asking".

    UK doctors etc would use kilograms. However if somebody said their weight was "five eight" (not "fifty-eight") that would probably mean "five stones eight pounds" or 78 pounds. Or if they were talking about a new born baby, when "five eight" would probably mean "five pounds eight ounces" (which is a rather small baby, of course)What is the unit of english weight called "y"?
    probably 58 kilograms being they are metric. they said y as in why are you asking.

    roughly 127 lbs.

    thats my guess as to the y

    Need help with portable tv and dtv transition/converter box?

    I want to buy a portable tv for the holidays and it says that the unit will need a converter box to be operated. The digital television transition only applies to stations that use the public airwaves to transmit their programming signals. what does this mean? i live in NY and the signal strength is strong. if anyone knows about this and knowledgeable, if someone could help me out with this and explain it im simpler terms, id appreciate it, many thanks and happy holidays.Need help with portable tv and dtv transition/converter box?
    I would not recommend you buying that portable television then. With the transmission of digital channels now the majority of portable televisions do not require a converter box. If you go to Best Buy or Radio shack they already have portable HDTV televisions from 3 inches to 9 inches and they have built in digital tuners, so do you do not need to purchase any converter box.

    the best thing you can do is get the right head unit to do the job the right way. if its a must i would buy the best line out converter and they must come with instructions to set it.or if the best has no settings then you best read up on it.tell your friend a new head unit that is made for running subs and speaker amps is the best way to go if you want a powered system,4 rca ins for a 4 channel amp and 2 sub outs to run your subwoofer amp, and have some control over how to mix your speaker amp with a mono amp that runs sub woofers.the head unit is like the heart in your body to a powered system.if you go with the stock radio and a line out converter,you are never going to get rid of the static and or feedback in your speakers from the half azzed RCA cables running the amps.do it right once or do it half azzed and it will piss you off every time you turn on the stock radio,not made for running powered system.talk to your friend and smarten him up.good luck with whatever you do.

    It's called a Line Out converter. You connect a pair of speaker leads (four wires pos and neg for each side) and the converter changes it from a speaker level (amplified) output to a line level output. It's output is two RCA connectors that you use to connect to your amp.

    You need to find 2 sets of speaker wires in the car, behind the radio is the best place. Hook up the line output converter to the left and right outputs coming out of the radio, preferably using the rear speaker wires. The answer above is correct, but behind the radio is not the best place. If your going to be running the line out from the Rear Speakers then running RCAs to the trunk then the logical location to install the Line out is in the trunk of the car. Will make the whole process much easier. Hook up the + and - to the correct wire to the rear speakers plug your RCAs in and enjoy.

    Do any newer TVs have a built in digital converter box?

    I am shopping for a big screen LCD (at least 1020p) that has a built in digital converter box so I dont have to go out and buy one (I hate the fact its a "separate" unit w/ separate plug,etc). I am only going to watch local channels and dont plan on paying for cable or satellite anytime soon. Never have, never will. Do any TVs have this feature or will there be any soon? Do any newer TVs have a built in digital converter box?
    All new TVs will receive the digital signal. Back in 2007 the law mandated that all TVs shipped in the US have the digital tuner. If there are any left over without, the advertising or label must clearly state this. Buying any TV should be safe, if not, It should say so clearly.
    According to http://www.dtv.gov/shopgde.html you have to make sure that the tv says built in digital converter. Even on the news, in the Los Angeles area, has been reporting that the new televisions do not have to have a digital converter built in. Make sure to check the television before buying.

    This feature is on the market in Australia now, so I assume it is almost everywhere else.

    The biggest fault with having a built in though, if one thing buggers up, then the whole tv needs to be sent back and not just the converter.

    Ok so my bro has a 99 taurus and he didnt want to get a new radio so he has a line out converter. This is what he wanted me to ask you guys..(I have a high flow speaker wire to rca converter and no matter how i hook it up, it only puts out if i leave one rca hooked up to it)

    Let me know if you have an answer that would be great...id love to help out my bro.Question about a LINE OUT CONVERTER (system with stock head unit)?
    You mean if you hook up both RCAs it doesn't work?

    Try switching around the + and - on one of the speaker wires (right or left, NOT BOTH).

    You might have them wired backwards so they're "erasing" each other.

    Can a DTV Converter Box Be Manually Tuned w/o a Channel Scan?

    I have the RCA DTV Converter Box model #DTA800B1. I want to know if this unit can be manually tuned to a specific channel? When I use the channel up/down button it only tunes to the channels found in the scan and not otherwise. I am trying to get my local CBS affiliate...I can get it on analog but not on DTV. I am using rabbit ears for now until the weather is better to install an outdoor antenna.Can a DTV Converter Box Be Manually Tuned w/o a Channel Scan?
    Not really. The way the digital system is set up, the displayed channel number is not necessarily the physical channel the on which the station is transmitting. For instance, our digital signal is physically on channel 38 but shows as 60.1 on TV sets and you punch in 60.1 on your remote control. Because of this, the DTV receivers need to scan to discover what's out there.

    Good luck on the outdoor antenna. I'm pretty sure it will work a lot better than the rabbit ears.Can a DTV Converter Box Be Manually Tuned w/o a Channel Scan?
    Nope, I was trying to help my dad do the same thing over the holidays. Even directly entering the channel with the remote will not tune it in.

    Not all boxes are that way (my MicroGem for example can do it) You will need to get enough signal for to the box to add the desired channel. The box may retain memory long enough to hook it to a rooftop antenna and then move it to your room, but the picture will most likely not be strong enough to sustain a watchable picture.

  • Connecting subwoofer and Amp to stock subaru head unit?

    I have a 2006 legacy and was wondering if the stock head unit would have RCA jacks. If not would I need some sort of converter to connect to the factory harness?Connecting subwoofer and Amp to stock subaru head unit?
    The stock head unit does not have RCA jacks. You would need to splice into your rear speaker wires and connect them to the high level in on your amplifier. If the amp doesnt have a high level input, you would need to purchase a line level inverter.

    Catelictic converter....rattles and is noisy..plastic broken ...do i have to replace the whole unit?

    can i just remove the plastic shield and not the whole unit...1994 trackerCatelictic converter....rattles and is noisy..plastic broken ...do i have to replace the whole unit?
    if its rattleing its broken up inside. replace it . as for a plastic sheild there should "t be one anyware near it.
    why the f is there plastic on your cadallydic converter? they get extremely hot, and actually must be at the hot temperatures to even work at all. If i was you id tear the plastic off, i seriously cant even imagine plastic on a caddy. they are supposed to be of metal, and lined with gold and titanium metals which are what removes the bad crap out of the exhaust, the very very hot exhaust. im a diy-er and a bit of a grease monkey and never have i seen plastic on or even around a cadlalydic converter, so if you think that is what is rattling or is wrong, pull that crap off and write whatever rot gut car company makes a tracker a nasty letter about chaep workmanship and horrible substance and design choices, WTF indeedCatelictic converter....rattles and is noisy..plastic broken ...do i have to replace the whole unit?
    if jsut the shield is broken then yea u can replace the shield only...hard part will b finding the shield since junkyards take out cats to sell .....and dealer will want as much for shield as u can get aftermkt whole converter for.......only other option is to remove shield and leave it off...but do at ur own risk.....good luckCatelictic converter....rattles and is noisy..plastic broken ...do i have to replace the whole unit?
    if its the heat shied rattling from broken tack welds, easiest solution is to either remove it or use a large hose clamp to resecure it. keep in mind the heat shield is there for a reason.
    It is metal and called a heat shield grind the spot welds off or cut it off with tin snips.
    Plastic? The cat is too hot for plastic
    plastic on a cat?

    Please help explaining dtv transition and converter box?

    I want to buy a portable tv for the holidays and it says that the unit will need a converter box to be operated. The digital television transition only applies to stations that use the public airwaves to transmit their programming signals. what does this mean? i live in NY and the signal strength is strong. if anyone knows about this and knowledgeable, if someone could help me out with this and explain it im simpler terms, id appreciate it, many thanks and happy holidays.Please help explaining dtv transition and converter box?
    As of 2009 or so, there are no more analog TV transmissions in the US.

    This must be an old TV with NO ATSC tuner, so yes, you will need a converter box, which probably defeats the purpose of buying this TV, since it will stop being so "portable".

    You need a TV with an built-in ATSC Tuner.Please help explaining dtv transition and converter box?
    All broadcast stations in the US have (by now), turned of their analog transmitters and are totally digital by now. To receive them, you need a TV with a built in ATSC digital tuner, or an external ATSC tuner box (called a DTV converter). The TV you are looking to buy is the latter. In either case you need an antenna.

    Cable is in the process of their own transition. The only difference is that you need to get a converter box from them. DTV converters for antenna will not work on cable.

    I have bought a WII console from USA, and plan to use it in Switzerland, What kind of converter will I need?

    My television is pal and NTSC, so my concern is whether the WII game will work with a converter of 50 to 1600 watts, because the standard convertor is upto 50 watts and WII unit is 52 watts?. Another concern is whether we can play the game for 1 or 2 hours using the converter or is the converter use limited to less time?I have bought a WII console from USA, and plan to use it in Switzerland, What kind of converter will I need?
    The converter isn't limited to a specific time.

    And everything should work just fine.

    If anything did happen, it'd only hurt your power adapter.

    Worse case scenario, and you have to call Nintendo so they can send you a new power adapter, which they'll do for free.

  • How do i enjoy 5.1 surround sound without having an optical cable on the back of the main unit?

    I have a ps3 and i want to connect it by optical cable to the back of the surround sound unit. My surround sound main unit doesn't have an input for this but i was wondering if there was another way around it still achieving 5.1?

    The connections on the rear of the surround sound unit include:

    Audio in (aux)

    Video out

    Scart.

    That is it.

    So is there a way to get 5.1 through any of those using a converter?How do i enjoy 5.1 surround sound without having an optical cable on the back of the main unit?
    There is no way to get 5.1 surround sound from PS3 with your system.How do i enjoy 5.1 surround sound without having an optical cable on the back of the main unit?
    You have not just inputs to worry about, but PS3 outputs too. The PS3 can send audio in one of 3 ways.

    1.) HDMI

    2.) Optical

    3.) RCA stereo

    Since your receiver doesn't allow for options 1 or 2 the only way you can send the audio is via RCA. So until you get a better receiver you're stuck with 2 channel audio.How do i enjoy 5.1 surround sound without having an optical cable on the back of the main unit?
    the way i did it was by using an audio out from my tv into my surround sound aux input.

    Can I use my factory steering wheel controls with an after market head unit?

    I have a 2003 Toyota 4 Runner with a factory JBL 6 disc in dash unit. There are steering wheel controls to change cd, station, volume, etc. Can I still use these controls if I purchase an after market head unit, like a Sony or Alpine? Is there some converter I need to buy?Can I use my factory steering wheel controls with an after market head unit?
    yes you can and sony is the best choice as they do wiring converters for most cd changers to fit thier head units and also the stem controls on your steering column check thier site or goto any reputable caraudio company for details.
    Neno is correct, there are adaptors that you can purchase for particular head units, but be prepared to spend an extra $50-100 plus the installation charge.Can I use my factory steering wheel controls with an after market head unit?
    you could try that but i think you need a converter to do that.Can I use my factory steering wheel controls with an after market head unit?
    you might be able to if you get another jbl deck

    Have an important question on a line output converter for car audio?

    I have a stock head unit and a 250 watt amplifier.

    I know that I will need a line out converter,

    but when I look to find one, there is a maximum wattage rating for them

    Is this specified wattage for the output of the head unit, or the amplifier?Have an important question on a line output converter for car audio?
    The LOC's wattage rating refers to the output power of the head unit, not the amp. I wouldn't worry much about it; just about any line output converter should be fine with a factory head unit.

    I am trying to install a sub and amplifier into a 2011 toyota corolla factory head unit.?

    i understand that i would have to tap into the cigarette lighter wire for the remote wire but how would i go about installing the rca cables? can i buy a converter for the head unit and is that all i have to do?I am trying to install a sub and amplifier into a 2011 toyota corolla factory head unit.?
    for the remote wire i would suggest using the window or sunroof fuse

    all you need for the RCAs is a line output converter, here are some http://www.sonicelectronix.com/viewcat.p鈥?/a>I am trying to install a sub and amplifier into a 2011 toyota corolla factory head unit.?
    As Richard said, the factory head unit may have low level outputs (RCA). Chances are pretty good on a Toyota since many Scions have that option.

    If not, it's not a problem. A lot of mass marketed companies (Pioneer, Sony, Alpine, etc.) have high level inputs on their amps. Tapping into the factory speaker wires for a signal is much easier when using an amp with that option.

    As far as hooking the remote wire to the cigarette lighter;
    The remote wire needs to be tapped into a low level amperage source that is off when the car is off. It's common to tap into the windshield wiper fuse. They're normally on when the key is in the ACC position, as well as when the car is running.I am trying to install a sub and amplifier into a 2011 toyota corolla factory head unit.?
    you would have to buy a rca line out box i believe whats it called and tap in to your rear speakers for it to work. the quality will not be that great but that is an option but check first if there are any rca outs on the back of your radio first before you take that route. with newer cars they sometimes have factory subs as an option so you might be able to use that wiring.

    Hi level inputs or line output converter for aftermarket amp install to factory radio?

    I am doing a "stealth" install in my 06 Dodge Ram 2500, and want to hook a Kicker zx1000.1 amp to my factory head unit. Is it better to use a Line Out Converter(LOC) or the Hi Level Inputs on the amp? Which(if either) would give me a cleaner sound?Hi level inputs or line output converter for aftermarket amp install to factory radio?
    Both will give about the same sound quality. In your case, I would go with the speaker level inputs. It would be one less thing to dirty up the signal before it reaches the amp. Everything added in line between the source and the amp will add resistance and some level of interference to the signal.
