How many amps on a round about average does it take to run a small window unit air conditioner?

I have a 3000 watt power converter and i am wondering if it will power a small window unit air conditioner. How many amps on a round about average does it take to run a small window unit air conditioner?
Your 3000 watts = 25 amps

A 120v 5000 btu needs about 15-20 amps with surge.

if you are running the above you will be ok.

Ok after your 2nd posting I found u some additional info:

I believe this will inform you of what you seek. Good Luck.
It depends on the voltage that is required to run it. Higher voltage units generall draw less current but provide the same cooling capacity. It also depends on the BTU rating of the compressor.

Somewhere on that unit it should say the FLA or RLA rating for the compressor or the entire unit. If you are running it off an inverter then you are going to need a lot of deep cycle batteries or you are going to need a very high capacity alternator and keep your vehicle running. Your best bet would to rent or buy a generator.

Actually your best bet would be to park underneath a tree. How many amps on a round about average does it take to run a small window unit air conditioner?
A 'small` window AC will take 600-800 of those Watts

with the compressor running.

The trouble is the starting surge when the compressor

'kicks in'.

Electronic inverters don't like surges and overloads.

Better not have more than 1000 'other' Watts

connected while that AC is running.

That AC will also run your battery down a lot faster

than you're used to seeing it happen.

The higher drain rate decreases the total power

available from any given battery set.

Remember, 5 A, @ 120V. will be ~50A. @ 12 V.

How many amp hours in your batteries? How many amps on a round about average does it take to run a small window unit air conditioner?
What is the current rating on the a/c unit ?

I really can't see it being a problem.

Power = Voltage / the current.

Look up VIR and "ohms law"
Don't think so. How many amps will the converter produce. You need about 12-13 amps to run the air conditioner. Why don't you run it off your own apartment power?
depending on what size it is,,, (it should say this on a small tag on the unit itself) between 15- 20 amps..... are u going camping or something or living in a van or what???
Run? mabe just.Start and run no way.You are going to need at least a 5kva surge to start the compressor.
15A would do.
