Question regarding a line out converter?

Ok, I DONT want the whole run around about replacing my factory headunit with an aftermarket... blah blah blah

I am looking for a TEMPORARY, but yet CHEAP way to run my amp and 12" subwoofer off of my stock headunit for my 99 taurus

LINE OUT CONVERTER: seems to be the only way without replacing the headunit which for any of you who know about the 96-99 taurus is a pain in the rear.

what im asking is, what am I expecting out of the line out converter?

seeing as my brother fried my good amp because he is a dimwit and doesnt know how to wire... Im using a 500w rated amp.

Im not looking for an award winning system, but I want... no, I NEED a hell of alot more bass than this factory unit provides.

I do plan on upgrading, but at this point in time. I lack the funding...

I know enough about car audio to know that what im doing is rly stupid but at this point in time im having withdraws from my LACK OF BASS!

So, back on track.. I know how to wire a converter and integrate it so my amp will turn on with the head unit, but what am i expecting for results?

yes i know the quality will not be as good as replacing the head unit and the "good" thing would be to upgrade the headunit.. so save your time if thats all you have to say... this is about line out converters.

thank you

I seem frustrated, yes... just because everywhere else I ask, i get the run-around about replacing the head unitQuestion regarding a line out converter?
Having installed (literally) hundreds of amp/sub systems using line-out converters, I can tell you that there's NO reason why you can't get just as much bass with a LOC as you would with an after-market deck.

Pick a decent quality LOC that has built-in level adjustments for the output. Make sure you don't mix up the polarity (+ and -) of the wire connections. In a Taurus, you should be able to tap the rear speaker wires pretty easily. They carry the full audio range, so the signal going to the amp will be just as good as what you'd get from a head unit's rear channel RCA pre-out. In fact, a line-out converter will usually give you a higher output voltage than a typical head unit.

The only advantage to a head unit upgrade is that you'd be able to adjust the subwoofer volume through the deck. That's it! There's no magical sound quality improvement that comes from using an after-market deck for your signal source instead of a line-out converter, as long as the converter is decent quality.
Some amps have high-level inputs built in. This basically IS the line-out-converter already there. It will have the low-level inputs when you upgrade as well.

Just tap off of the rear speakers and run to the high-level inputs.Question regarding a line out converter?
Replace the headunit.Question regarding a line out converter?
push it off a cliff, collect the insurance money and buy a new system
i had one till i got an excellon deck i know alot of people that have one. sound quality is decent. but your gains will have to be set higher because your almost getting NO power thru your rca cables. for the money youll save from buying a head unit u wone be dissapointed. i hope that helped. and even the cheap converters will be fine. i payed 10 bucks for mine!
