I am trying to install my amp/sub into my 2009 Honda Civic. The only problem I am having is getting to the back of the head unit. I have a line output converter so I can get the signal for the amp through one of the speaker wires. The only problem is I need to hook up the "power on" cord to the car but I can't get to the back of the head unit. Is there any where I could hook up the wire so that it will tell the amp to turn on without getting to the back of the head unit?Installing amp power on cord if you can't get to the back of the head unit?
IIM AN INSTALLER WHAT YOU CAN DO IS INSTALL THE REMOTE WIRE FOR THE AMP TURN ON/OFF TO YOUR IGNITION WIRE BUT FOR BEST RESULT YOU SHOULD RUN IT TO UR HEAD UNIT
Any other power source could cause a loud "thump" when you turn on or off the radio. It's best to remove the head unit and use the power antenna wire, or the amp turn on wire, if it has one.Installing amp power on cord if you can't get to the back of the head unit?
You can attach it directly to the batteryInstalling amp power on cord if you can't get to the back of the head unit?
Hook the wire to the ignition. I have mine hooked up and whenever i tun on my car it turns on. it really works and you dont have to remove the head unit.
The easiest option might be to connect it to the power wire for your cigarette lighter. In a Honda, the cigarette lighter usually turns on and off with the key, just like the radio does; and it's much easier to get to the cigarette lighter wiring than the radio wiring in a newer Civic. Another option is to tap your remote wire into a suitable fuse at the fuse box.
