Ok I'm about to give up.... I'm tring to install an aftermarket amp and sub in a 2003 deville with a factory head unit. I wired in the line out converter as the diagram showed but the sub will play sometimes and sometimes not. I thought it might have been a faulty loc so I exchanged it for a new one but no change there. Also the remote wire on the amp kit... I'm having an issuse with it as well. I only get a signal when the car is running not when the key is just on. Can someone please help. LolHow do i wire a line out converter?
Where exactly are you connecting your line output converter? In a Deville, you'd want to connect the converter to the speaker wires that run between the factory amplifier and factory subwoofer. You won't be able to connect to anything behind the head unit in this vehicle.
Also, where are you connecting the remote wire? Your best option would be to just pick a LOC that included a built-in trigger circuit, so the LOC produces a remote output when it senses an audio signal. It can be difficult in a newer GM to find a power source that works like the factory radio (ie, stays on after you turn the key off until you open the door). You can look in the fuse box under the rear seat for a "RAP" relay; RAP stands for Retained Accessory Power, and if you know what you're doing you can tap the output of this relay for a remote connection. However, this relay isn't present in all vehicles.
