But if your rear speakers are located fairly close to where you plan to put the amp, and you use twisted pair wire (or even shielded twisted pair), you can usually get decent results using speaker level inputs.
Most problems with using speaker level inputs result from long unshielded speaker wires picking up EMI and RFI "noises" and sending them along with the audio signal to be amplified. The result can be annoying humming, buzzing, whining, and otherwise hard to diagnose and cure noise problems.
With a stock receiver, in either case, the resulting input to the amp has already been "processed". With the LOC, it's processed and then reprocessed again. I would just go buy an after market one you can get a decent one for $100 bucks or a cheaper one for like $50 bucks or so.
