well now, this may be one of the legacy boondoggles by the bush cheney self glorification era, or it may be the first steps to the 22nd century communications needs, short of finding a sub-space comm channel. the government, and this may include the UN, caused the world public to go to a digital transmission format, so the world communications corporations could "buy" the now open bandwidth that was formerly occupied by analog tv signals. this has increased the sale of HDTV from asia and created mountains of operable analog tv sets in the trash pile. the older crt/analog tv will not process the digital signal, so you will need the converter box. or a new hdtv set. considering all the other world problems, where did the money go????|||yes. big foot lives in there and sends coded signals to the extraterrestrials who then use your brain waves to raise the price of gas.
