I had this working before on a more basic computer. Since i have got a new computer, i needed a serial to U.S.B converter. When i got it it came with a driver. I inserted the driver and it came to all its files. It wouldnt do anything from there. I use my GPS for Geocaching. The Garmin Communicater detects my unit, but the Geocaching site doesn't. I can't get any waypoints from the site and am frustrated. HELLLLPPPP!!!!!!!!Serial to U.S.B converter driver wont work!?!?!?!?
There are a couple ways you can try to install it. (all this is assuming you have xp...should be similar in vista though you would probably need the vista drivers) The way I would do it is to:
1. Go to your control panel.
2. Double click on system
3. click the hardware tab
4. click the device manager button.
5. since your device isnt installed it should be a yellow question mark, right click that and select reinstall driver.
6. select no not at this time and click next.
7. select install from a list or specific location.
8. select search for best ...make sure search removable media is checked.
9. make sure your driver cd is in :). wait a few seconds.
10. click next. follow the rest of the prompts select driver you want to use if it even gives you that option. it might only find one and install it.
