Troubleshoot LinkStyle LK-21941 HD Video Converter?

I purchased a video converter in order to view movies, etc. through my television rather than the PC monitor. I connected all of the necessary cables to the appropriate ports. The video display has a horizontal control issue, so I can not view the menu function of the converter clearly and there is not an issue through any other inputs. The troubleshooting guide in the manual does not address this issue. I moved the converter farther away from electronics and still the issue persists. I have no switches on the television to switch to AV mode or S-Video mode; the unit automatically switches to its input source. The television is about eight years old.
