If I buy a thermoelectric cooler that runs off the lighter plug in in my car, can I buy a converter to be able to use the cooler at home also?Converting a car plug in unit (12v?) to a house plug in (110 ?)??
Kevin C has it right except it is 110V AC to 12V DC. No extra fuse needed as the power supply will be fused internally. Make sure it's output current is at least as high as what your cooler requires or you will be popping the power supply's fuse all the time.Converting a car plug in unit (12v?) to a house plug in (110 ?)??
even if you do find yourself a converted to run the cooler in te house remember that you will still have to put a car fuse in-line on the DC side of the wireing to protect the cooler. The cig lighter is 15 amps at 12 volts,,,so you do the same in the house. Otherwise you can smoke the cooler.Converting a car plug in unit (12v?) to a house plug in (110 ?)??
you need an 12v ac to 110v dc converter like this
