http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Marla_(unit鈥?/a>
it says that 1 Marla = 25.2928 sq m
but i checked some area calculating tools on these websites
http://www.propertymarketindia.com/area_鈥?/a>
http://www.mahadeonirman.com/area_unit_c鈥?/a>
http://www.monopolyinc.com/areaconverter鈥?/a>
the results show there that 1 Marla = 502.1274546338643 Square Metres
and on this website
http://www.surajinfo.com/RealEstate/Defa鈥?/a>
the result show there that 1 Marla = 503.3152 Square Metres
now the 1 Marla = 502.1274546338643 Square Metres and 1 Marla = 503.3152 Square Metres are pretty much same, but the wikipedia statement of 1 Marla = 25.2928 sq m is absurd.
what is right and what is wrong?
maybe i am confusing units of lenth to area? What is the "marla" unit of area?
I don't think you are wrong. I think this is a good example of why you can't trust on-line calculators.
Before it was phased out in 1965, the rod in England was 16.5 ft.
Let's imagine we can agree on:
1 marla = 1 rod虏
1 rod = 16.5 ft.
1 ft = 12 in.
1 in = 2.54 cm
1 m = 100 cm
so
1 marla = 1 rod虏 路 272.25 ft虏/rod虏 路 144 in虏/ft虏 路 6.4516 cm虏/in虏 路 m虏/10000 cm虏 鈮?25.29285264 m虏.
Which is the standardized unit adopted in Pakistan.
It is not an international standard, however, and measurements in India can vary greatly by region.
So unless you know what formula is employed by an on-line calculator, it can be unwise to rely on them.
